Vivid Lucidity: A Self-Portrait Exhibition
From the curator:
Charles Dickens said, ‘There are only two styles of portrait painting; the serious and the smirk.’ Vivid Lucidity is an exhibition that seeks to present the vibrant aliveness concealed in both. We hope these works offer an unmistakable visage of each artist and leave a lasting impression on the viewer.
Vivid suggests an impressing on the mind of the vigorous aliveness of something — thus producing a strong or clear impression on the senses, specifically: producing distinct mental images.
Lucid comes from the Latin verb lucere, meaning “to shine,” which is reflected in its meanings “filled with light” or “shining.” It also describes someone whose mind is clear or something with a clear meaning.
Artists present stunning self-portrait works.
